The historical drama directed by Olivier Assayas (known by works “Irma Vep” and “Summer Hours”), is an epic portrayal of one of the most dangerous international criminals, having been terrorizing the world between the years 1974 and 1994. Known as Carlos the Jackal, the Venezuelan terrorist and the most wanted revolutionary of that time, Ilich Ramirez Sanchez has shaken the world by his unprecedented acts of cruelty and violence. Sanchez has been wanted for about two decades. He lived several lives under numerous pseudonyms and was an enigmatic person with many faces and identities.

The Venezuelan has organized a worldwide terrorist organization and 1975 attacked the OPEC headquarters. He was connected with a series of other crimes of international importance. Due to the extreme kind of his actions Carlos won the notoriety and was considered one of the most cruel but fascinating persons of the twentieth century.

The criminal drama based on the real events, “Carlos” became a sensation of the Telluride Film Festivals and the Cannes Festival. The title character, perfectly played by unsurpassed Edgar Ramirez, portrays the true nature of the international terrorist as it is.
